Privacy Policy – OAuth APIs
What is OAuth?
OAuth is commonly used as a way for users to grant websites or applications access to their account information on other sites but without giving access to their passwords. For example, you might use OAuth to give Report Runner Batch permission to send reports via email using your GMail account, or you might use OAuth to give Report Runner Event Server permission to read your Microsoft Office 365 mail to automate the submission of reports via email (via Mail Rules).
OAuth is a mechanism used by Google, Microsoft, and other companies to allow users to share information about their accounts with third-party applications or websites without having to give out an ID and password.
With OAuth, we present a screen that prompts for you to log into a third-party account and approve the permissions our software is requesting. This is done via an OAuth consent screen.
Who is requesting this data?
Known Keep LLC will request access via our OAuth Token Utility (a Windows desktop application). This utility will then encrypt and save the access token on YOUR machine. We do not upload it to our servers or share it anywhere.
What data are you requesting access for and why?
Currently we request access to an email account, a storage account, and/or Sharepoint. We create SEPARATE tokens for each access. We never request access to “everything”. We are very specific and clear about what we are requesting access for. As explained in the section about OAuth, this request is necessary to access your Google, Microsoft, or other 3rd party services or applications to send reports via email, store reports to a drive, or upload reports to Sharepoint within our Report Runner Windows application.
Changes to our OAuth APIs Policy
If we decide to change this privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page, and/or update the OAuth APIs Privacy Policy modification date below.
This policy was last modified on January 1st, 2022 to add a description of OAuth.
